All our teachers—each with a unique background and journey—have extensive experience teaching Spanish. Their diverse life experiences bring a richness and maturity to their classes.

Our teachers understand that to ensure students have an enjoyable time learning Spanish, they must design lessons where the students themselves take center stage. They build a rapport with each student, helping them feel comfortable and motivated to participate.

We invite you to read our teachers’ profiles below so you can choose one when you sign up. Remember, you can switch teachers whenever you like. In fact, changing teachers occasionally is a great way to benefit from hearing different voices and perspectives.

Me encanta cocinar el idioma. Hay muchos puntos comunes entre la comida y el idioma: los dos reflejan la cultura de mi país, crecen gracias a influencias exteriores y son compuestos de muchos ingredientes. Cocina y enseñanza me conectan con otros temas como la ecología, la mujer en el mundo. Mis estudiantes aprecian particularmente en mi trabajo que soy sumamente paciente y divertida, muchos me dicen que si tienen un mal día en el trabajo o en su vida por alguna razón, la clase les da un respiro, les cambia las ideas y se sienten mejor al terminar nuestra clase.

Soy una profesora “egoísta” porque mi profesión me da la oportunidad de conocer muchas personas de culturas diferentes. ¡Es muy interesante de hablar de su cultura y aprender de las otras! Por ejemplo, hace poco con mi estudiante de Noruega hablamos de cárcel y nos impactó ver las diferencias de sistema entre México y Noruega. Mi neta es lograr que mis estudiantes conversen conmigo sin darse cuenta de todo lo que aprenden. Mis estudiantes aprecian mi paciencia. Sé escuchar activamente y tomo en consideración sus intereses y sus necesidades cuando preparo y diseño mis lecciones ya que, además de aprender español, las personas pueden hablar de temas de su interés en una segunda lengua.

Un puente entre los estudiantes y mi cultura.
Así es como me siento cuando doy clases de español.
He dedicado toda mi vida a aprender estrategias para lograr conectar a mis estudiantes con la cultura mexicana al mismo tiempo que aprenden español. Pero este puente va en las dos direcciones, pues yo aprendo también de ellos y de sus culturas.
Al dar clases, me encanta ver como cada persona es única, lo que hace que tenga que adaptar cada una de mis clases a las necesidades de cada persona.
Ser empático, paciente y respetuoso me ayuda a que los estudiantes sean realmente participativos durante la clase.
Tendremos ideas similares o diferentes. Tendremos actividades y aficiones diferentes. Pero al final compartimos el mismo sueño de aprender sobre otras culturas y que mejor que haciéndolo mientras aprendes español : )

The first thing to know about this resplendent place is that it’s not a school...it’s an environment for learning. The physical space feels like a tropical hacienda. I walked in expecting to find desks and blackboards so thought I had the wrong address! I saw bright colors, a swimming pool, a kitchen serving home cooked food!. In this wonderful environment all anxieties or impediments to learn a new language seemed to vanish!. Now comes the best part...the humans who run the place! Young, vibrant, warm, and nonjudgmental...oh yes, and proficient, consummate professionals…

My teachers Miguel and Marisol were gifted in communicating a language to me that had stymied me in the past. They wanted me to succeed and did what they could to make me speak well! The four hours flew by each of the days I was there. I’m still a beginner but now have the confidence I lacked and the key to my future fluency has been found!. One other thing: Agustin, who coordinated my enrollment and seems to be “el jefe” is also a wonderful caring man who kept his eye on my progress. I will surely return to Merida and continue my adventure!

Ho frequentato Calle 55 per 4 settimane e sono felice di poterla raccomandare vivamente. L'ambiente è caloroso, informale e pieno di vibrazioni positive. Ho adorato il metodo allegro e confidenziale degli insegnanti, davvero preparati ed amichevoli. Con le loro lezioni mirate ai tuoi obbiettivi ed al tuo livello, sono in grado di far crescere il tuo apprendimento giorno dopo giorno.

Was ich besonders an der Schule mag, sind dort die Menschen und das Lehrkonzept, denn sie schaffen es innerhalb kurzer Zeit, dass die Schüler die Sprache ohne Hemmungen sprechen. Und das ist sensationell!! Ich liebe den kostenlosen Kaffee zum Frühstück, das super leckere Essen von der Köchin am Mittag (auch für Vegetarier ist jeden Tag etwas im Angebot) und den Pool in der Schule zum Abkühlen am Nachmittag. Super klasse sind die angebotenen wöchentlichen Nachmittagsveranstaltungen (Stadtführung, Kinofilm mit Untertitel, Koch-Kurs, Tour mit Ruinen, Cenotes und Hacienda, ...). HASTA LA PROXIMA!! Anja
